Types of paper for a perfect invitation

26.10.2022

Searching for the perfect invitation for you, but doubts assail you? What is the paper on which it will look better? Don't worry, we are here to give you a hand choosing bettwen the most used types of paper and which you can't fail with.

Let's start at the beginning, what grammage is recommended to use?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions and one that our customers always have a lot of doubts about.

To choose the perfect grammage, a series of factors come into play:

-Quality

- The texture of the paper

-What do we want our guests to feel?

- your taste

- Your budget.

Everyone would like to give the highest quality at the lowest price, sometimes that is not possible, but there are plenty of alternatives to fit all budgets.

Finding the balance

Let's start from the basis. A tipical sheet of paper is 80 grams, it is the cheapest that can be found in a stationery store, but, if we are looking for quality for the wedding, we must raise the level and with it, the thickness and weight of the paper.

on the other side of the spectrum, the highest grammage that we can find is that of foam board, which is equivalent to about 800 gr. This material is one of the best, since it is completely rigid and has a high quality but requires special machinery, which raises the price to stratospheric levels.

This leaves us room to play with other types of paper and textures that are offered. we recommend useing paper heavier than 200gr, which is the usual weight for magazines, business cards, packaging... among others.

They give us quality while being affordable.

Taking into account the weight of the paper and after studying and testing endless amounts of paper, we opted for 4 types that have captivated us from the beginning.

We look for papers that are printed clear so that the text can be read perfectly, but at the same time we want textures that provide a different touch and feel to the invitations, and (the most important thing for us) how the final result of the ink injected on the paper looks. so that the illustrations that have been designed with so much love shine.

MASTERB 240g (The famous laid paper)

CONS:

To put a downside to this paper, I would talk about its "white shell"color which contrasts a little more compared to the other papers. In addition to its clean texture, which, if you want to go completely with an envelope, we would recommend the simple envelope more than the rustic envelope, even though the latter is the heaviest.

It is in high demand and sometimes the waiting times are longer.

PROS:

The good thing about MasterB is that its Cons become Pros and that is that, thanks to its clean texture, the inkjet is more precise and the quality of the text, colors and illustrations is the best among the 4.

It is the cheapest paper that we have in the store and to top it off, MasterB has a perfect cardboard-style grammage, which makes the invitation stand out with body and rigidity.

FABRIANO 250gr

CONS:

If what you are looking for is sharpness, we do not recommend it, since the ink "bites" the paper and it is a bit fuzzy, but that is the interesting part of Fabriano paper.

PROS:

Don't let its grammage fool you, although it is not one of the highest, this paper has us in love with the rustic touch and the papyrus style that it brings to the invitation. Its touch is the softest, lightest and with the greatest texture and roughness of all.

And it also goes along with our rustic envelopes, same manufacturer, same texture.

CABALLO 250gr

CONS:

Caballo paper is very similar to MasterB but increasing its price and with a little more texture.

PROS:

Just as it increases in price, it does so with its grammage, providing greater rigidity and quality.

It also has a white bone color, which goes perfectly with rustic envelopes. Caballo is one of the best quality-price papers and its texture also allows the ink to be injected perfectly.

SAUNDERS 300gr

CONS:

Without a doubt, its price. It is the most expensive paper we have at Moonstars Events.

PROS:

However, its price is totally worth it. It has a texture that no other paper has.

It is watercolor paper style, thick, rigid and "waterproof" so, for the invitations of the Watercolor and XIX Century collection they are simply perfect. We fall in love with Saunders because of its quality, its grammage, its texture and its velvety finish.

We hope we have helped you choose the paper that best suits you and your style.

All the best,

Irene
